Shanghai is a shopping paradise. It is famous for its clothing and fashions, products are of great quality and deserves its price. Therefore, shopping should not be missed.

Shopping areas in Shanghai are clearly divided into "Four Streets and Four Cities". They are Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road, North Sichuan Road and Middle Tibet Road.

Nanjing Road:
With a development from the 20th century, enjoying the reputation of No.1 Commercial Street in China. Nanjing Road has clusters of a wide variety of shops from those that are centuries old, to special ones and modern malls. It becomes more and more flourishing.

Huaihai Road:
Huaihai Road is a charming six-km stretch with almost 400 shops. The most bustling part is from Shanxi Road to Tibet Road. Many Shops are built in the architectural styles of different countries. When night falls, as the lights flash and shine, it truly comes alive. There are also many internationally renowned department stores such as Paris Spring, the Japanese Isetan, Parkson's. It is a highly successful shopping and commercial area incorporating business, finance, culture and tourism. It features top-end designer brands from all over the world.

North Sichuan Road:
It offers budget merchandise and is always the first choice for ordinary people.

Middle Tibet Road:
Food and tourism are well provided.

Xiangyang Road Market:
It used to be on the former Huating Road Clothes Street, at the crossroad of South Xiangyang Road and Middle Huaihai Road, which was the most renowned clothes street in Shanghai before relocating to its present place.

It features copies of designer label fashions, belts, shoes, scarves, bags, watches, the whole outfit. A notable feature here is the fact that you can find expensive goods at very low prices! But be careful that so-called brand names are often fakes but with care you can find items of a reasonable quality.

On weekends, it buzzes with the sounds of frenzied bargaining, the click of calculator buttons and the shrieks of shoppers.

Yuyuan Market:
The Yuyuan Garden Market sells gold jewelry, Chinese arts and souvenirs. Shops in this area imitate ancient buildings and temples in Yangtze River Region. The magnificent Yuyuan Garden is eminently worth a visit. Take a look at the jewelry stores and have some of the snacks.

Bird and Flower Market:
Located in the Northwest corner of People's Square off Huangpi Road, it is a great place to soak up some real Shanghai atmosphere. Here you can enjoy some flower shopping, or some souvenir shopping (there are a few souvenir stalls).

Bird keeping is a hobby of elderly men. After retirement, a small song bird or two can be an excellent companion.
